The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.
Confirming the news, Sirajul Islam, station officer of Joypurhat Fire Service, said that the accident took place around 7:20am as the Uttara Express train hit the local bus ‘VIP Paribahan’, leaving the 10 passengers dead on the spot and five others injured.
Locals rescued the injured and took them to Joypurhat Sadar Hospital where two others succumbed to their injuries, he said.
The three other injured were undergoing treatment at the hospital in critical condition.
On information, fire service team rushed to the spot and carrying out rescue operation, said the official.
Rail communications of northern region with other parts of the country remain suspended after the accident, he added.
